Theo’s Story
Theo’s life changed in an instant.
After a spinal cord injury left him with tetraplegia, even the simplest tasks like getting out of bed, moving between rooms, accessing a bathroom became daily barriers. Independence, something he had always taken pride in, suddenly felt out of reach.
When Theo purchased a new property, it was clear that standard adaptations wouldn’t be enough. His needs were complex, and they would continue to evolve. That’s where Occupational Therapist Jackie stepped in with a vision not just to make the home accessible, but to truly restore Theo’s independence.
Working closely with EA Mobility, Jackie and Theo’s plans were brought to life with care, precision, and a deep understanding of Theo’s future needs.
Doorways were widened so Theo could move freely without hesitation. Flooring throughout the property was replaced with smooth, wheelchair-friendly surfaces, allowing effortless transitions from room to room. The layout of the home was thoughtfully reconfigured, creating open, practical spaces that worked with Theo – not against him.
The bathroom became a place of dignity again, fully adapted to support safe and comfortable use. Bedrooms were fitted with accessible wardrobes, designed so Theo could independently reach and organise his belongings. Behind the scenes, plumbing and heating systems were reworked to suit the new layout and ensure consistent comfort throughout the home.
And outside, something equally important took shape – a new accessible decking area. For Theo, this wasn’t just a nice add-on it was a reconnection to fresh air, to quiet moments.
Throughout the project, EA Mobility worked hand-in-hand with Jackie, turning clinical recommendations into practical, beautifully executed solutions. Our collaborative approach meant that no detail was overlooked, and every adaptation supported Jackie’s goal: helping Theo live as independently as possible.
