Types of Walk-In Shower We Install in Southampton
Hampshire has one of the largest over-65 populations in the South of England, with retirement communities along the Solent coast and in the New Forest and many people living in bungalows and family homes whose bathrooms were never designed for reduced mobility. EA Mobility installs throughout the UK and provides full walk-in shower installation coverage across Southampton and Hampshire, with free home surveys available at no cost.
Level Access Showers
The flush floor is completely level with the bathroom floor, with no step whatsoever. Shower water drains away via a linear or point drain. Maximum accessibility with a clean, contemporary look.
- Zero threshold: continuous floor level
- Linear drain or centre drain options
- Full range of tile and surface finishes
- Suitable for wheelchair and rollator users
Low-Level Access Showers
A very shallow tray (typically 25–40mm) offers the look of a traditional shower cubicle with dramatically improved accessibility over standard trays. Ideal if you want a discreet adaptation.
- Shallow 25–40mm anti-slip tray
- Wide range of enclosure and door styles
- Easier retrofit into existing shower spaces
- Easy-clean wall panels
Wheelchair Showers
Designed for full wheelchair or shower chair access. Open-plan entry, wide door frames, fold-down tilt-in-space shower seat, and reinforced walls for grab rails wherever you need them.
- 1500mm+ turning radius compliance
- Fold-down shower seat as standard
- Adjustable slide rail shower head
- Reinforced walls for grab rail
Whether you need a low-threshold shower tray, full level access, or a fully wheelchair-accessible enclosure, EA Mobility designs the right solution for your specific needs and your Southampton home.

EA Mobility were recommended to me for fitting a wet room and I am glad they were, as I have found them to be excellent all round. They made the whole process as simple and easy as possible; from the initial site visit to the final fitting of the grab rails. They even left us with plenty of loo rolls , which after the Covid scarcity was a lovely touch. A special mention must be made to Robert for his patience keeping me up to date, and to Adam for doing a lovely job. Many thanks EA Mobility! Job's a good'un!
Highly recommend Our initial contact with Robert at EA Mobility was most positive and he arranged a meeting for us with Kevin. The meeting was extremely helpful, no pressure, just excellent guidance and some sound advice. The design was agreed to meet our requirements. EA were able to accommodate our tight time schedule which was greatly appreciated. Sean, the surveyor, visited us to check for any hurdles the fitter may encounter. On the start date all the shower materials were delivered and safely stored an hour before Dan, the fitter, was due to arrive. After his initial assessment of the situation he set to work immediately. He was so organised, ensuring carpets and flooring were protected. Dan made a number of changes to our existing plumbing to ensure a perfect fit for the new installation. Before he left each evening, he cleaned the area and left everything neat and tidy. He was punctual, hard working, took great pride in his work. He was a pleasure to have on site. A credit to the organisation. We are delighted with the results and that we chose EA.
Very happy. Efficient process end to end from design to technical survey & install, all made easy by the excellent team. Mum was particularly happy with Craig the main installer who was very patient, accommodating, leaving the space clean & tidy throughout the process. Solution focused overcoming & resolving a tricky technical challenge. Great communication from the whole team both on and offsite. End result looks great. Would definitely recommend.
Used EA Mobility because very impressed by Michael, the rep who came to visit me. He was very professional and before leaving produced a computerised view of how the completed job would look. This was transferred to my laptop by email. We were then very quickly given a date for installation. Ben, the installer, did a superb job and at several points asked us how we would like to proceed, giving alternative solutions. There was no mess, even covering carpets to avoid damage. All materials were of a high standard. I would recommend this company.
Your team from the very beginning of the project for my mum and dads shower room have been polite, helpful and compassionate. THe fitter was absolutely wonderful and had so much respect for my mum and dad and their house. I cannot thank everybody enough for all of their work getting the wet room fitted in 5 days. As a nurse I will recommending your company to many of my patients who are looking to transform their bathrooms into wet rooms. A big than you from me and my parents.

What customers in Hampshire say
“I had my bath removed and a walk-in shower fitted. Auris arrived on Monday morning as promised and finished Thursday morning. I am over the moon with the bathroom: the shower is fantastic, the workmanship is very good and Auris cleaned up after himself, even hoovering the hall carpet before he left.”
Frequently Asked Questions
Does EA Mobility cover Southampton?
Yes. EA Mobility installs throughout the UK, and Southampton and Hampshire are fully covered. Our assessors and installation teams visit homes across every Southampton postcode as well as Portsmouth, Winchester, Basingstoke, Eastleigh, Fareham, Andover and Lymington.
Are walk-in showers suitable for Hampshire's coastal bungalows and older terraces?
Yes. Bungalows along the Solent coast and in the New Forest are ideal candidates because ground-floor access means no upstairs floor tanking is required, while the Victorian terraces of Southampton and Portsmouth usually have compact bathrooms where a walk-in shower with a low-profile or level-access tray is the most practical adaptation. Our assessors design around the structure you have.
What safety features do your Southampton walk-in showers include as standard
Every walk-in shower we install in Southampton includes anti-slip flooring rated for mobility use; carefully positioned grab rails at entry, showering area, and seating; thermostatic controls that prevent scalding and are operable with limited grip; a fold-down shower seat where needed; and a low or zero step entry. Additional accessories are specified based on your individual assessment.
Are walk-in shower installations VAT-exempt in Southampton?
Yes, in most qualifying cases. Where the installation is for a person with a qualifying disability or chronic illness, the project is zero-rated for VAT. That is a 20% saving on the total cost. Our assessor confirms your eligibility and manages all paperwork at the free home visit stage. You do not need to fill in any HMRC forms yourself.
