Our Bariatric range removes that fear instantly. We supply and install specialist sanitaryware designed to handle significant weight without flexing or moving.

Built for strength. This unit conceals the cistern behind the wall or in a furniture unit, creating a clean, minimal look. The pan sits flush to the wall, reducing dust traps and making cleaning easy.

Choosing the right model
How to Choose a Bariatric Toilet
A bariatric toilet is the right choice if the user weighs more than about 20 stone (130kg), if a standard toilet has cracked, moved or felt unstable, or if a larger user needs a carer’s help to transfer. The weight rating on the pan is only part of the story, so these are the four things we check at every survey before we recommend a model.
1. Pan, seat and fixings are rated separately
A pan can be tested to 1000kg while the seat that comes with it is rated for 150kg. The lowest figure is the real limit, so we match the pan, the seat and the fixings to the user and upgrade the seat where needed.
2. Seat width and stability
Standard seats can pinch and slide sideways. Extra-wide seats up to 19 inches, with stabilising bumpers, stay in place and spread the load evenly.
3. The right height
A comfort-height pan makes sitting down and standing up easier on the knees and hips. We set the final height at the survey, based on how the user sits and stands.
4. Floor, space and support
The floor has to carry the toilet and the user together, so we check the joists and reinforce them where needed. We also plan room beside the toilet for a carer or a wheelchair transfer, and fit floor-fixed drop-down rails that take full body weight. Many customers pair a bariatric toilet with a level-access wet room, so the whole bathroom works for a larger user and a carer. If the toilet is needed because of a long-term condition or disability, you may also qualify for 0% VAT on the supply and installation.

Do I need to reinforce my floor?
Usually, yes. A heavy-duty toilet plus the user’s weight creates a high “point load.” During our survey, we check your floor joists and reinforce them if necessary to prevent movement.
Can I get a wider seat?
Yes. Standard seats are often too narrow and cause pinching. We supply “Big John” style seats (up to 19 inches wide) with stabilising bumpers to prevent the seat shifting sideways.
What is a bariatric toilet?
A toilet built for heavier users, with a strengthened pan, a wider and stronger seat, and heavy-duty fixings. Our range supports users from around 20 stone up to 70 stone, depending on the model and the seat.
How much weight can a standard toilet take?
Most standard UK toilets are only tested to around 20 stone (130kg). The seat and the fixings are often the weakest points, which is why a cracked seat or a rocking pan is usually the first warning sign.
Will a bariatric toilet fit in my existing bathroom?
In most cases, yes. The close-coupled model has a similar footprint to a standard toilet. We check the space, the waste connection and the floor at your free home survey.
Is it VAT Exempt?
Yes. If you require a bariatric toilet due to a medical condition or disability, you do not pay VAT on the supply or installation.
Do you install grab rails with it?
Yes. For bariatric users, standard wall-fixings for grab rails may not be enough. We install Drop-Down Support Rails with floor-fixed legs to ensure they can take your full weight when standing up.
Can I have a wash and dry seat on a bariatric toilet?
Yes. We can fit a Wash & Dry (bidet) seat or a Bio-Bidet system, so you can stay clean without twisting or reaching. See our smart toilets page for the options.
Can a carer help with transfers?
Yes. We plan clear space beside the toilet for a carer or a wheelchair transfer, and fit drop-down rails on the open side so they fold away when not in use.
